Otts, CG... I guess all went well in the end and that's what matters... India should thank their stars for putting up a lead which a session back looked unreal.

CG,

You are right about the Cricinfo commentary being unnecessarily critical.

Hi,

I have to to ask this question, SP. Did you watch this match live, or are your comments based on cricinfo's commentary?

I felt cricinfo unnecessarily dropped a critical line on Sachin towards the fag end of Indian innings. I watched the match live and found no reason to complain. On the contarry, his handling of no. 10 and 11 was perfect IMO.

Otts, Yuv and Dhoni I guess will very much be a part of the future mainstay of the Indian squad... I hope Raina is drafted soon and the likes of Badrinath should also go through. The fact that they are not tested shows the grip and reluctant nature of the seniors... but for most of these seniors, it is only a matter of a year before they should call it a day or be hung on a clothesline.

SP, your observation on SRT's innings pretty much ran into my mind too. But I couldn't read too much into it and therefore am clueless. But we must also consider that the fielders were in the deep to prevent the big shots and whenever they were up, he hammered them. It was a matter of faith but it won't work every time.

"what was disappointing was the ones who in maybe a year’s time take over Indian test cricket are still found wanting to perform."

I agree with your observation. However, other than Yuvraj, Kaif,Dhoni and to lesser extent Raina none of the talented youngsters have been given a chance.

What about the Badrinaths, Venugopal' Rao's and others. Why weren't they ever tried and in some cases persisted with?

Scorpi, the future of Indian cricket has never had their chance with Yuvraj and Dhoni ruling the roost.

bhajji will be celebrating 'aussi ki taissy'...the way he controlled his exuberance and playes like a pro-bat was remarkable...if only he learns from his todays effort and carry it in hix next outings we will have good lower order bat...

i have mixed feeling about SRT's knock...while he played well i think he was the difference between india having lead of 69 and possible 100...with willing tailenders at other end he should have shown some urgency and should have farmed strike...

coz another day and you would see them walking back to pavilion straight away if they have to face 4-5 balls every over...

what you say??
