Jason Gillespie: The outcast, the leper

pineapple

All right, now this has stretched way too far and way too cheap.

Jason Gillespie has been stopped by cricket Australia from taking up a two-week coaching stint for some promising teenage cricketers at the Centre of Excellence in Brisbane.

His affiliation for the unrecognized league ICL, was the reason for the same, which apparently is the view of the ICC.

For many who are not aware of my views of the IPL-ICL ‘clown fest’, I am for the ICC and its members to protect its interests from unregulated private leagues, players nurtured, contracted by their respective board’s systems to “play” for a competitor.

Primarily, because there are huge conflicts of interest from player availability to sponsorships, all the way to revenue generation needed to develop and sustain that system. No point on going about this debate all over again.

But this is plain garbage.

Here is a very good and respected player from Australia offering his expertise to guide young cricketers which would be beneficial for Australia/world cricket, being cast aside like some unfortunate leper, when there is no conflict of interest that would affect cricket Australia or the so-called BCCI, ICC whatever.

For the good of cricket, I request all folks to please hunt and find the biggest, meanest pineapple from your neighborhood and send it across to James Sutherland, Lalit Modi and David Morgan.

Of course, don’t forget to leave a note attached…

  • some guys have all the bad luck. stray thought, dizzy bowling with that haircut in the icl must have been the last straw.

Pineapple will be too hard. Why not try a coconut?

  • Soulberry says:

    Anything for Jason Gillespie.

This is self-defeating. I say the same for India too. Use the experience you have at home where and when there is no conflict of interest.

Gillespie is one of my favorite Ozzies and I’ll certainly scout the markets for the best pineapple I can find.

Yeah, they’ve got to take it leaves first and without jelly.

  • achettup says:

Well to be honest, coaching in an official capacity is about as bad as representing the board. Once you have a zero tolerance policy, you can’t make an exception when it suits you. Not that I agree with any of this, its more a case of cutting your nose to spite your face.

  • scorpicity says:

His hair was loaned by CA

  • scorpicity says:

Otts, coconuts fall under the level 2 offense category. This is a level 3 :)

  • scorpicity says:

SB… these are the aspects that put this whole thing in bad perspective. The courts will hammer them.

  • scorpicity says:

Ach… well it was not even say some official coaching post. The coach over in the centre had simply invited him for imparting some tips to the kids for a workshop.

Besides, there is no conflict of interest and they cannot take away his contribution to Australian cricket and also it has to be considered that he retired and not absconded from their system.

  • Som says:

Don’t you think you are being too lenient on Modi & Gang?

  • Commonfan says:

After one of you finds the biggest pineapple, I would just lace it with glue.

  • utp says:

agreed to the full…thats like wasting experience and opportunity for upcoming talent…

  • scorpicity says:

What to do Som, only a pineapple will fit into a size 36 pant :)

  • scorpicity says:

Cheers AV… glue and some preservatives too!

  • scorpicity says:

    Cheers Umar,

How are things with you. I heard you were closing down your blog… what’s up.

Also, I watched that music video where you stared in it. Lucky fella, that’s a gorgeous babe whom you were chasing around the trees :) . Way to go…. Cheers

  • Soulberry says:

Have you guys imagined the chaos a pineapple could cause?

I don’t know about the legal angle Scorpi…I’m just looking at it from the viewpoint of expertise. You have a body pf it, try and use it.

However in India we saw that legends didn’t come forward to coach willingly or sincerely…

  • Wasim says:

    Scorpi

The problem is that their ass is so hard they can even crush an almond with it, no criticism can change these shameless morons, money and monopoly are the only things they are after they have no compassion for the game and the players.

  • Sandesh says:

India also does not cares for local talent. Look at Kapil Dev, who had this idea for ICL, which further was shaped to IPL, he too is suffering from the same politics. He has been kicked out of BCCI job, for lifting up the standards of the game.

  • scorpicity says:

Am disappointed SB… I would have imagined cricket Australia to have the sense to know where to draw the line. Bad pr.

  • scorpicity says:

LOL Wasim… walnuts! These smaller but idiotic issues will all be probably fixed in court. They don’t have a chance.

  • scorpicity says:

Hi Sandesh… my views on Kapil may not concur with this post as I am very much disappointed with him and the manner in which he is using players as a ransom to his cause.

Some idiotic things did happen to him like withholding of pension but loosing the post in the BCCI is completely up to the BCCI and is a fair call.

The important aspect on the above point is what was Kapil Dev doing in that post all these years? Nothing, absolutely nothing. That position was the key for developing young potential cricketers who have been shortlisted for a possible team representation. He has done nothing there either.

    Cheers dude
