Exactly SB... That is the hypocrisy. The money is crucial. On a another note, how much is enough I cannot understand specifically in the case of the Indian board. On the ECB etc., their biggest money spinner was always the ashes and that is their excuse for the morality talks and also that of the players. Not one of their players can harp about looking forward to a test series other than that stupid ultra glorified ashes, especially those away from home. The cold fact is the players in England hits their income at their highs high on this series. They being useless in everything else is another matter being buried under the carpet. As Haigh put out so nicely, all the rights was sold to the Murdoch group and therefore it's no surprise to me that both Australian and most of the English media have an identical and stale agenda.

Yet, the bottom line, almost all actions done by all the boards seem to stem on the fact of being politically correct on morality grounds but run after the money in various other ways.

I don't really know who this author is, as in I have not read much. The first article i read of his, was utter rubbish except for some real good facts on some aspects of the IPL. He was mostly beating the same old beaten path.

This came as a surprise for the only fact that here is the first journo/cricket writer, which acknowledges the true reality of the scenario. His particular bias does show through but it is relative.

Now I cannot possibly think of any famous Indian writer (read cricketer) that pens out books and columns after columns who can be honest to explain the real situation. They cannot because they are equally part of those who thrive by it and make their money.

So that's why instead of these hypocrites lambasting Gayle, for once I was truly stunned to see a really honest cricketer, who spoke his mind as he saw unlike the hypocritical administrators and paid to write journalists of the game.

Excellent article. Only thing is wonder which sport today isn't about money? As a spectacle, one can find what interests in any sport anywhere, but I find it hard to believe that a test series is not about money at all. Why the guarantees, why the sponsors? Why did a reluctant WICB take this replacement tour? So it could be paid some money by ECB, a part of which it could then forward to the players who struck on the logo-sponsorship monies. Why did ECB want a series? So it could get money from its sponsors and avoid paying penalties for not having a series. So money is a predominant factor in modern sport...take it away and you'll not even find gully cricketers playing in the lane outside - you need money to buy even a Cosco ball and a cut-rate bat! Kids pool cash leveraged from their sponsors (usually parents) to play...and somehow money makes sports evil....I find such utopian views, expressed often, quite disturbing.
